Here is a little comparison chart to help you in your decision. Below are specifically for the LocHer Room Studio practices for microlocks clients and typically worldwide for Sisterlocks clients.

  1. A registered trademark brand of uniformed cylinder micro, or small loc(k)s established by the interlocking (interwoven) of the hair strands with structured processes, techniques, hair care instructions and products use.

  2. Practitioners have attended and completed the 4 day or hybrid Sisterlocks® Natural Hair Care System Training Course led by master trainers with validations listed (or at some given time) on the Sisterlocks® website (www.sisterlocks.com) as a qualified trainee, approved trainee, (R)certified consultant or brand ambassador.  

  3. Consist of a 3--part required package: The Consultation, Locking Session, and Follow-up Appointment.  At the scheduled consultation, client's hair will be assessed. During this time, the client will be inquired of their hair relationship. The Sisterlocks® natural hair care system will be thoroughly explained. Also, at this time, any questions of inquiry related to your new journey are encouraged. Sample Sisterlocks® between 8-12 are established near the back of the ear so that the client can wear the locks for a trial period. Also, this helps the Sisterlocks® professionals determine which locking pattern to use. A specified quote from your assessed hair will be provided along with the next establishment date availability. Two shampoos, typically at 2 weeks post-consultation at the minimum time, is an establishment date scheduled based upon the Sisterlocks® professional's calendar availability. So have a proposed budget set aside to schedule the soonest available date booked by deposit. Deposit varies based on discretion of the Sisterlocks® professional. Often 1/4 to 1/2 of your custom quote.  The locking session can be scheduled same day completion or over a number of days. Post your locking session, a follow-up appointment is typically scheduled within 2-3 weeks after locks are establishment to check for slippage or bunching and any other concerns. A retightening of newly hair growth will be conducted during the follow-up visit. Follow-up may be complimentary or at the nominal retightening cost based on the Sisterlocks® professional terms and conditions that were provided.   

  4. A non-refundable/ non-transferable consultation fee and deposit may be required prior to locking session. 

  5. Sisterlocks® established & maintained with specialized locking tool to be considered authentic Sisterlocks®. Use of brand specific Sisterlocks® products, is recommended for Sisterlocks®.

  6. Specific and various lock sizes are established throughout head strategically; 3 lock sizes: small, average (medium) and large.

  7. Average of 400 locks (less or more) depending on density, head size and curl pattern. Here at the LocHerRoom we only establish an average of 400. Micro Sisterlocks® (averaging 600 plus locks are not offered at the LocHerRoom Studio. 

  8. Ongoing retightening sessions are required to maintain locks at intervals of 4-6 weeks depending on growth, density and curl pattern at the LocHerRoom Studio. Also, service availability on the calender may dictate interval requirements.

  9. Retightenings averaged at 3-4 hours at LocHerRoom Studio depending on hair density, curl pattern, growth, Sisterlocks® home care (by client), and locks development. 

  10. Prices are independently determine by the practitioner and based upon density, curl pattern and length. 

  11. Little to no products needed especially for the first year (well until locs are mature-which every one is latter) to include no coloring or dyeing of your Sisterlocks®.

  12. Requires little to no manipulation of locks. Ease styling.  

MicroIoc(k)s

 "Microloc(k)s" and we establish or start loc(k)s by   interlocking only.

  1. A non - brand and general term for small loc(k)s. Our offered microlocs, we call them "Microloc(k)s" are not Sisterlocks®.  However, Microloc(k)s can be established by 2-strand twist, braids, comb twist, palm rolling or interlocking. No specific proprietary processes, techniques hair care instructions nor specific products use. 

  2. Practitioners are not required to be validated, certified or licensure by a brand or industry.

  3. Custom quotes provided. 

  4. A non-refundable/ non-transferable consultation fee and deposit may be required prior to locking session. 

  5. Follow-up post locking session may or may not be required. 

  6. Loc(k)s sizes varies. However, at the LocHerRoom established sizes are medium to large. 

  7. No specific tools utilized for loc(k)s establishment or maintenance.

  8. No particular product usage. Although, loc(k) practitioner may recommend specific products for care for the best results. 

  9. Average of 300 loc(k)s at the LocHerRoom Studio.

  10. At the LocHerRoom Studio required retightening service intervals between 6-8 weeks.
